Internet trends equal - No more Newspaper bends
2010-03-05 | Published 10:09
There was a time when most people started their day by reading the newspaper in bed or at the morning breakfast table before heading to work. But the future is now, and papers have become a part of ancient history. More and more people are logging onto their computers or accessing the news through the world-wide-web via their mobile phones. Where is the technology headed then? Will the time come when today’s newspapers are seen as antique, or is this simply another passing modern-day trend?
According to the Pew Research Centre in Washington D.C., online news has become more popular in the US than any newspaper in circulation. The survey found that 92% of the American respondents utilized several different media formats to feed their daily news appetites. Many access the internet as their main source of information (61%), but the most popular media format was found to be the local and national TV news; including both cable and network, with 78% of those surveyed.
Today’s technology has taken the world by storm. As the internet evolves with so many choices of web ready mobile phones and computers the information super-highway has quickly become the standard gathering place for those seeking minute by minute news updates. Sadly though, it has had adverse effects on the newspapers, which have seemingly fallen by the wayside-floating away into the winds of the Stone Age.
In this new and ever changing media environment, people have the ability to interactively contribute and personalize their online content. Such as the case, news seekers are able to attain and view any and all current issues and publications much more efficiently and faster than anyone has ever been able to do through the old school daily press.
The internet is a way for people to instantly get information and also a great way to stay socially engaged and in the know. With all the various possibilities to share information online, and the option to interact with other users through communities such as Facebook or Twitter, the tech trends of today look like they are here to stay. So it's out with the old and in with the new-goodbye papers, hello net news!

Thank you Jerick for your comment.
I agree, people should think twice before publishing anything or writing anything online. Because once it’s on cyber space it’s not private. There are hackers, stalkers and people trying to have fun by getting a hold of your account information and that is nothing less than a nightmare.
