Fashion industry - entering technology

The cinema industry had to think of new ways to reach out to the world and capture the senses of a fresh and growing audience, so they started making movies in 3D. So it was no surprise then when the fashion world followed closely behind in this contemporary and trendy new media setting. Burberry became the first fashion corporation in history to broadcast live across the globe in 3D.

Christopher Bailey designed the Burberry Prorsum´s Autumn/Winter 2010 fashion show as part of London fashion week. Fashion superstars, top actors and famous actresses from all around the world attended the show to witness the new and complex 3D technology that the show was presented in.

“I’ve flown all the way from New York just to be here”, said Anna Wintour, the editor in chief of US Vogue.

Burberrys ground-breaking fashion show was streamed in some of the world’s most posh and fashionable cities. One could catch the show in places like Paris, New York, Tokyo, Los Angeles and last but not least Dubai. People in Dubai were able to watch the live screening at the Dubai Mall. The excitement was intense and the air filled with anticipation, as if the people themselves were at the actual live show!

Streaming live fashion shows has become a rather common trend; both Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein have streamed their collections via their websites, reaching out to a much larger and more targeted audience group.

After taking the fashion industry in to high technology, Burberry has once again set a new trend in the world of distinguished style.
