Cultivating a vibrant media will help the Arab world to unlock the creative potential of its young people and capitalize on its “one economic resource that is truly inexhaustible” he said. A booming media industry can be a platform for fresh young minds that can generate great economic value in terms of jobs. Rupert also said that this could only happen if protectionism and censorship laws are kept to a minimum and young minds are let free with their imagination. These reforms can be made with time as development occurs institutionally and socially.

This is the time for wilderness in imagination, freedom in thoughts and openness in ideas to flourish a whole new era in the local media business. Murdoch also towards the end of the Summit mentioned the name “My Name is Khan” – a Bollywood film co-produced by Imagenation Abu Dhabi and premiered in Abu Dhabi last month, as the kind of cross-cultural media product that could become the region’s signature. “The popularity of My Name is Khan reminds us that no nation has a monopoly on creative content, If you tell a good story, people will respond”, he further said.
