Google finally acquires human resources after taking pride in being 100% digitally operated for years.

Human editors have been listed under the Editor’s Pick section, Google News announced.
Several partners have been involved along with the renovations. This includes The Washington Post, Newsday, Reuters and Slate.

The organization’s announcement also said, "At Google, we run anywhere from 50 to 200 experiments at any given time on our websites all over the world. Right now, we are running a very small experiment in Google News called Editors' Picks. For this limited test, we're allowing a small set of publishers to promote their original news articles through the Editors' Picks section."

However, officials said that this does not indicate how their future operations will be conducted as this is just an experiment.

Senior manager Chris Gaither of Google News said, "I wouldn't read too much into this small experiment in terms of what it signals for the future."

Google spent the past couple of months upgrading their news site. The renovations include User Feedback and Fast Flip, which allows news readers access to multiple sites.

The BBC also has been working on their website for the first time in 7 years. This indicates that the competition has been heating up among news portals.

Adding the human element to this application was crucial as Google News algorithm searches can only find the newly published stories on important websites. However, it is incapable of evaluating one story over the other in terms of importance or relevance.
